Symptoms of Dehydration

Mild Dehydration includes: Dry mouth; thirst, drinks eagerly; few or no tears when crying; fussy behavior or fewer than four wet diapers per day or no wet diaper over 4-6 hours for infants; no urination for 6-8 hours for children; soft spot on infant’s head appears flatter than usual or somewhat sunken.

Severe Dehydration includes: Very dry mouth, which could appear "sticky" inside; drinks poorly or not at all; no tears; dry, wrinkled or doughy skin (especially belly and upper arms and legs); inactivity or decreased alertness; appears weak or limp; sunken eyes; sunken soft spot on infant’s head; excessive sleepiness or disorientation; deep, rapid breathing; no urination for 6-8 hours in infants; no urination for 8-10 hours in children; fast or weakened pulse.
